“We want to thank you for the long hours you put into assisting us with our planning. You have given us the opportunity to continue living the same life style, with some adjustments. Thank you, thank you and thank you for; making us feel valued, listened to, and understood. Matching our needs with the proper products, not letting us take a risk, going that extra mile, giving us a clear picture of our desired outcomes and building a new relationship as we move into retirement.
Many companies are busy trying to build a business, where they should be building relationships.”

“From the many years of working with individuals and businesses with their insurance needs, along with the time spent working with national corporations and organizations to allocate and maximize their return on investment with multi-million dollar racing budgets, has given me a broad view of financial planning. That experience and knowledge is an asset in helping people as they make decisions for sound retirement plans suited to their unique individual circumstances,” said Conway.
Dick, from Newport News, VA, graduated from Elon University in 1969 with his degree in Political Science and History, and came to Richmond to start in the insurance business. He spent 17 years working with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and for 25 years worked in the motorsports industry. In May of 2005 he returned to his roots in insurance. “I had been on the road for more than twenty years and I immensely enjoyed the experiences I was able to have, but as the NASCAR schedule expanded, being away and traveling for over thirty weekends each year became too much, and it was time to spend more time at home with my family,” said Conway. “I also missed the involvement and sense of accomplishment that came from working with people, while helping them make important decisions regarding their financial future.”
Since returning to the insurance industry Dick has focused on the Senior Market, specializing in Long-Term Care Insurance and retirement planning. He is certified to sell policies under the new Partnership Program enacted by the State of Virginia in September of 2007 which can help protect some personal assets while allowing individuals to be eligible for Medicaid programs, if they have a partnership qualified Long-Term Care Insurance policy. Due to his expertise with this product he was quoted extensively in The Richmond Times-Dispatch for an article on Long-Term Care Insurance in a Retirement Lifestyles special section in May of 2006. He is also a Member of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance.
His wife Rebecca recently retired as a first grade teacher at Pocahontas Elementary School in Powhatan County. She completed a twenty-seven year career in teaching at the end of the 2008 school year and will work with Dick at Conway Insurance Planning, LLC.
During Dick’s time working in NASCAR he represented many of the top companies, organizations and drivers. He won championships in the NASCAR Busch Series with both Bobby Labonte and David Green with sponsor Goodmark Foods through their Slim Jim and Penrose brands. He worked with the Slim Jim program for eleven years, also handling the public relations for Terry Labonte, Justin Labonte, Jason Keller, Mike Cope and Todd Bodine. He has worked with and helped manage sponsorships for The United States Coast Guard, Starter Athletic Apparel, The Collegiate Licensing Company, Hot Tamales Candy, Great Clips Hair Salons, Advance Auto Parts and Luck Stone.
He has had his photographs published in over twenty racing books and co-authored a book on Richard Petty in 2005 titled, “Richard Petty – Images of the King.” He contributed 95 of the 230 photographs for a book on Dale Earnhardt published in 2002, “Unseen Earnhardt, The Man Behind The Mask.” His photographs have also been used in books on Bobby Allison, Mark Martin and Tim Richmond, and have appeared on national television programs produced by the ABC Network, ESPN and NASCAR Images. They have also been used in national advertising campaigns, numerous newspapers, racing magazines, racing papers and programs.
As can be seen from his many accomplishments Dick Conway spends the time to understand the needs of those he works with, takes what he does very seriously, and strives for excellence in any endeavor he pursues. You can expect that same approach in the work done for you by Conway Insurance Planning, LLC.
